Glymur Waterfal...
Iceland’s Place Names Committee will choose a name for a waterfall discovered in southeast Iceland, near Morsarjokull glacier in Öræfum, on August 14; the unnamed waterfall is 228 meters high.

Morsárjökull glacier is located south of Vatnajokull glacier, not far from Skaftafell; the new waterfall is 30 meters higher than the Glymur waterfall in the Hvalfjordur fjord area, west Iceland.

Morgunbladid and mbl.is asked their readers to send in suggestions for a new name from June 14 to June 30, and received nearly 2000 suggestions.

The most popular names were Morsárfoss with 119 votes, Klettafoss and Morsi came second with 56 votes each, Jökullfoss got 50 votes and Morsárfossar 45.

Thórunn Sigurdardóttir, chairman of the Place Names Committee, told Morgunbladid the committee will look into all name suggestions. The final decision will not be made at a single meeting but she expects the committee to make their final decision in a few weeks time.
