The 2011 version of the comprehensive free travel guide Around Iceland has just been published by Heimur, the Iceland Review publishing company, for the 36th year in a row. The guide is also issued in Icelandic and German.

More than 100,000 copies of the guide are distributed to all of the country’s main tourist destinations, tourist information centers and places of accommodation.

The guides contain information on each region in Iceland, lists of service outlets that are updated annually in cooperation with locals and maps where places of accommodation, campsites and swimming pools are included.

There is also a special chapter on the highlands. All chapters are decorated with stunning photographs by Iceland Review’s photographer Páll Stefánsson.

Heimur’s travel guides enjoy significant popularity among tourists in Iceland, both local and foreign. In the summer of 2008, a survey among foreign visitors concluded that more than one third of them used the guides and 48 percent of German travelers used the German version.
