In the letter, which was made public last week, Stacey says that in the past few years his agency’s clients have suffered a number of inconveniences because of the company, visir.is reports.

CEO of Iceland Express Matthías Imsland said the airline is in a dispute with Discover of the World, because, among other reasons, the travel agency hasn’t paid the airline’s invoices and that accusations made by the agency’s executives must be considered in light of that dispute.

The letter says many of the airline’s flights were canceled, often with short notice, and due to poor organization many other flights were delayed.

Sometimes airplanes made a stopover at destinations such as Paris without any notice. Iceland Express’s representatives either gave no or unsatisfactory explanations, Stacey claimed.

Stacey added that this past year has been unusually difficult and that he has understanding for problems that surfaced in relation to the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull.

However, even without the eruption, Iceland Express’s service has been unsatisfactory, Stacey maintained, saying the airline reflects poorly upon the Icelandic tourist industry as a whole.

Discover the World has now stopped booking tickets with the airline but many of its clients are scheduled to travel with Iceland Express shortly, Stacey explained, and therefore he urges the Ministry of Industry to investigate the company’s business methods.

Meanwhile Iceland Express has increased the number of its destinations; the airline will offer direct flights to Dublin, Belfast and Edinburgh next summer, as stated on mbl.is.

As of early June 2011, Iceland Express will offer daily flights to New York, fly to Boston four times a week and add Chicago as a new destination in the US.
