Steingrímur Thórdarson, a camera man for Stöd 2, caught unique footage of the volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull glacier when shock waves passed through a cloud.

He filmed the footage from the farm Stóra-Borg below the Eyjafjöll mountain range last weekend.

Ómar Ragnarsson recently shot a video of shock waves at the volcanic crater for RÚV, but this footage is different as it shows how the shock waves continue up through a cloud, Stöd 2 reports.

Trausti Jónsson, a meteorologist at the Icelandic Meteorological Office, said this phenomenon has been witnessed before during Hekla eruptions, but it is very rare to be caught on camera.
